Summary2 - Desert Survival: Finding Water

The Bedouin accurately knew about wells and springs across the country because it was their source of water and navigation across the desert. They survived by sparing limited and hidden food, water and shelter. They could recognize the existence of water by the presence of vegetation and birds. They also used shipskins water vessel to make sea water drinkable. At hard times, they would kill a camel for the water stored in its stomach. Also, they replaced water with milk derived from camels and goats. During long journeys, they stored water in satchels made of sheep or goatskin. Plus, Bedouins can last an extra 24 hours without water because they are acclimatised to desert heat and resist dehydration than others.
